Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information passes through homesearchsail (the “Service”), how it is used, and the choices available to you. It applies whenever you use the homesearchsail search page. Terms not defined here carry the meaning given in our End User License Agreement.
Our Approach
homesearchsail is deliberately simple. Its main job is to take a search you type and hand it to an independent search partner that returns results. We aim to keep the information involved to what is needed to perform that task and to support the free operation of the Service.
Information Involved When You Search
- Search terms. The words you enter are forwarded to a third-party search provider so results can be returned. As you type, partial input may be sent to a separate suggestion provider to offer query completions.
- Referral identifier. A non-personal identifier may accompany a forwarded query so that resulting activity can be attributed under the arrangements that fund the Service.
- Basic technical data. As with most web pages, standard details such as browser type, approximate language, and the time of a request may be observed by the services your request reaches.
Information We Do Not Seek
homesearchsail does not ask you to create an account, and we do not request your name, address, telephone number, or payment details in order to run a search. Please do not type sensitive personal information into the search field, since anything you submit is forwarded to a third-party search provider.
How Information Is Used
- to deliver search results and suggestions in response to what you enter;
- to keep the Service working correctly and to diagnose technical problems;
- to attribute referred activity so the Service can remain free to use; and
- to protect against misuse, fraud, or activity that could harm the Service or its users.
Third Parties
The Service relies on independent providers to return search results and to supply query suggestions. When your request reaches those providers, it is handled under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the practices of any search or advertising provider whose results you interact with. We do not sell information about you.
Cookies and Local Storage
The homesearchsail page itself keeps its footprint minimal. Third-party services your request reaches may set their own cookies or use similar technologies as part of returning results. You can manage or clear cookies through your browser settings; doing so is unlikely to affect the core ability to run a search.
Retention
We retain operational and technical information only for as long as it serves the purposes described above or as required to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Information handled by third-party providers is kept according to their own schedules.
Your Choices
Using the Service is entirely voluntary. You can stop at any time, avoid entering information you would rather not share, and remove the Service from your browser. You may also use your browser's privacy controls to limit cookies and clear stored data.
Children
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the Service, please contact us so it can be addressed.
International Use
The Service and the partners it connects to may operate from various locations. By using the Service, you understand that information involved in a search may be processed in jurisdictions other than your own, whose data-protection rules may differ from those where you live.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or applicable law changes. The current version is the one made available through the Service, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
